In the depths of dancing

Among the key elements that I have discovered with Malaika, I would hold:

- The Yawning, strange as it may seem...

I have in fact never yawned as well and as much in recent years!

- The deep and continued breathing in all parts of the body...

- The continuity of movements, as these are round, slow or fast...

- A musical repertoire as large as that of rhythms that one can create and feel...

- The idea of getting into the skin of a person and thus to unwind...

- The integration of music to the point where I sing it inwardly while dancing...

- The awareness of the self and the other through the gaze, the delicate and respectful touch...

I simply learned to dance life away!

It is at the age of 4 years that I took my first dance steps. Since then, I have never stopped dancing. A passion was born ... Small look back at 22 years punctuated by this activity that holds a central place in my life to explain my current approach.

After rhythmic classes until I was 18, it was with Sylvette Joseph and her daughter Cendrine that I learned the basics and the difficulties of classical dance. Sequences, technical exercises, flexibility, rigor, and discipline ... A program that was at times even daily.

Along with my half points learning, tips and other ballerina slippers, I have practiced different styles such as modern jazz, flamenco and the contemporary. Each year, we introduced ourselves to the examination of the Royal Academy of Dancing in London and put together shows including two major ones: Pestalozzi and Cinderella.

Little by little, I wanted to use my knowledge and technique to express my feelings and feel freer. Also, I did a year of African dance and then discovered another way to dance and feel the rhythm in my body. So I decided to stop precise and structured classical dance for theatrical dance classes with Regula de Souza.

What a change! I was finally able to improvise and be free from my own movements. After 3 years with Tanzthater Harmonia, I wanted to discover new horizons and another way to approach movement and body.

It is at this time that I met Malaika through my big sister. From the first meeting, the current was passed! Finally, I found what I needed! It only remained for me to go through my movements and forgot the extreme rigor and rigidity of the classical.

This has not always been simple. Sometimes without realizing it, I pointed the tip of my feet or forgot to release my weight ... but I could finally express my sensibility, channel my energy, release my creativity and travel through space, either by dancing alone or with someone else. A.M.
